Scout Saturdays
Scout Saturdays bring local history to life for Boy and Girl Scouts while helping them achieve their Local Lore Badge.
The Scouts choose from six informative, educational and interactive presentations created especially for Tigers, Wolves, Bear Cubs, Jr. Girl Scouts, Brownies and Daisies. These hands-on educational programs bring local history to life by using the museum’s rotating exhibits and presenting interactive artifacts to the children through demonstration on how the objects were used and within the context of the lives of the people who used them. These hour long sessions include activities such as:
• Craft making
• Storytelling
• Acting out traditional oral and historic written stories
•Use of historic replicated maps, photographs and documents as well as authentic artifacts
• Playing educational games from Native American history
